John P. Jepson was born in the historic town of Chesterfield, North East Derbyshire, UK, the proud son of a Derbyshire coal miner. Throughout his working life, John has been a skilled craftsman stonemason, restoring churches and some of England’s most treasured listed monuments.
A true artisan at heart, John has always nurtured a passion for arts and crafts, painting whenever his hands were not shaping stone. Creativity, craftsmanship, and a deep respect for tradition have been constant threads throughout his life.
John’s work is primarily created using oils and acrylics. Through his use of bold shapes, lifted textures, and vivid colours, each piece becomes a unique journey into the beauty of the observed world. His background in stonemasonry lends a strong sense of structure, resilience, and timeless artistry to his paintings.
